During the Summer Season, 1st April to the 31st October, there is normally a weekend duty warden. During the off season, the water is turned off and the site is designated greenfield. The self-composting toilets remain open throughout the year. The site is not available for public camping.

ACCESS - The Forestry Road, the the shelter, the bivouac and the nearby toilets are now all accessible with care. The toilets should be approached by the steps as the path is currently obstructed by a fallen fence. The path to the Bivi has been cleared but a large amount of cut timber in the vicinity. Work continues at campsites Blue 6&8. The stand of trees at Red 9 is currently unavailable for hammocking, whilst the dangerous trees have been felled the cut timber remains to be removed. Many thanks to the Wednesday crew and the willing chainsaw owners who have allowed this work to proceed at pace. Due to tree damage there is no access to the Scout Plantations on either side of the forestry road, these areas are hazardous due the the amount of fallen timber. There will be no work carried out in these areas as the intention is now to clear fell.

It is planned to have the stop net and archery butts in permanent position. The aim (no pun intended) is to have it ready for the start of the main camping season. As with the reservoir, bookings will be in 2 hour blocks. Unfortunately due to the storm damage this project has been delayed and is likely to be delayed further.
Securing a safe and permanent water supply - the first stage of establishing whither it is possible to source our own supply without relying on reduced pressure and storage tanks has commenced with the drilling of a test borehole.
