WHY CHOOSE US

If you are a scout group in Clackmannan District, Falkirk District, Stirling & Trossachs District or West Lothian District access to the site is free for both day visits and camping. We have a large area for delivering traditional scout camping and activities.

ABOUT THE BARRWOOD

The Barrwood was established as a Scout training ground in 1922 and was gifted, in trust, to local scouting in 1946. As such the camping ground is free to use by all Forth Region Scouts. There are modest charges for Scouts out with the region.

Basics

The site is accessed off the Denny Stirling road. All visits must be pre booked using the contact form giving at least 7 days notice. A booking is only firmly accepted once confirmation has been received from the booking secretary. Campers must comply with instructions from the booking secretary / booking warden.

Utilities

During the period April to October the campsite is served by a number of stand pipes. These are turned off during the winter months when the site is designated greenfield.

There are toilets based in the Bolton Barn near the centre of the site (available April to October). Throughout the year the site is served by 3 self-composting toilets.

In addition to the laws laid down by POR the campsite has a set of rules to ease with the maintenance and running of the camp.

Trustees

The campsite is operated by the Trustees. The Trustees consist of 6 permanent trustees, 3 ex officio trustees supported by a number co-opted members. All members of the group are involved in Scouting.

THe Wardens

During the main camping season there is a group of volunteer wardens who assist in the smooth running of the camp at weekends.

The Volunteers

The site is maintained and developed by a willing group of volunteers who meet in the wood every Wednesday between 10.00 and 15.00hrs. If you would like to join contact us using the email below or just pop along any Wednesday ready to join in.
